We just got word that the Moderna vaccine was approved by the FDA.
Technically, the next step is to await for the vaccines to arrive AND wait for the CDC (via ACIP) to approve their usage. They will either approve universal dosing (everyone who wants one gets them) or risk-based dosing (only high risk people get them).
If you’re excited, read this:
- We don’t have doses.
- We can’t give them yet.
- We will SOON have more info and will let you know ASAP when you can get your doses.
About Risk-Based Dosing
- Nearly 80% of people have some risk where COVID vaccines will be recommended
- These risks include comorbidities like heart, lung, liver disease etc, diabetes, all that fun stuff
- It also includes obesity and smoking
Why do I say that? We are going to work hard to do thorough assessments to TRY to ensure anyone who wants a vaccine will get one. You come to us, we will spend the time to evaluate you and ensure it is a fit.
- Novavax: no update yet
- Pfizer: no update yet
- Flu shots: hang tight; the best time to get these are in October
